BACKGROUND AND REGULATIONS
In June 2020, the composition of PosLing-UFF’s Affirmative Actions Working Group was formalized, including Profs. Luciana Sanchez Mendes (Line 1), Phellipe Marcel da Silva Esteves (Line 2), and Joel Windle (Line 3); students André Cavalcante Barbosa da Silva, Douglas Coelho Alves Ferreira, and Fernanda Cerqueira de Mello; with Rafael Parintins (Municipal Department of Education/Unicamp) participating as an external collaborator.
On July 20, 2020, this WG’s proposals brought about the approval of Decision No. 2/2020, which “Implements, regulates and establishes goals for the Affirmative Action Policy in the Postgraduate Program in Language Studies at UFF”, and the implementation of quotas in the 2020 Call for Applications for Admission into the Master’s Program.
On June 22, 2021, PosLing-UFF’s Administrative Board approved Decision No. 1/2021, which replaced Decision No. 2/2020, and established the implementation of quotas in the 2022 Call for Applications for Admission into the Master’s and Doctoral Programs maintaining affirmative actions in PosLing-UFF.
As of approval by the Board of PosLing-UFF, in a meeting held on May 29, 2024, Decision No. 1/2021 had its effects extended until March 2025, as can be read HERE.
The current configuration of the PosLing-UFF Affirmative Action WG was published in DTS PLG/UFF No. 1, dated April 30, 2024, as stated in the document available HERE
WG ANNOUCEMENT WEEK July 15-19, 2024
During July 15-19, PosLing-UFF Affirmative Action WG members took action to publicize the inclusion and retention policies of PosLing-UFF Call for Applications for Admission from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The members were stationed in front of Blocks B and C at the Instituto de Letras to assist anyone who had questions about the policies or wanted to discuss the issue. The group understands that these actions are important ways to publicize the number of spots allocated to Affirmative Actions, and they can also create a space for dialogue for the community since policies like these are achieved collectively. Anyone who wants to get in touch with a member of the WG can access their profile on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/aaposlinguff/. We believe everyone’s support can help widely publicize these actions!
